PJ SCOTT - BIO
PJ Scott is a Navy WAVES Veteran (1971-1979) active in several Veteran Service Organizations. Scott joined the Navy WAVES in Nov 1971 as an enlisted person, reaching the rank of Yeoman Second Class. Upon being honorably discharged in 1979. Scott continued her college education, ultimately receiving two BA's in History & Geography with two minors in Political Science & Theater Arts.
With American Legion, Scott served in several capacities including Post Commander, Jr. Vice Commander and Historian, District Public Relations Officer, Dept.(State) Chairman of Public Relations, and Dept (State) Chairman of Post Activities & Community Service. As a member of the Blinded Veterans Association (BVA), she was Chapter Secretary for two years, and elected as a state delegate to two National Conventions. In the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) organization, she served as the Chapter Chaplain for four years and has participated on various chapter level committees.
In 2002, Scott founded Veterans Forum, a veterans-based, award-winning television program broadcast throughout many areas of Washington, Oregon, Idaho & Alaska. The cable program features engaging conversations with honored & distinguished military veterans, war heroes, and prominent veteran leaders. Past guests have included John "Bud" Hawk, Medal of Honor Recipient; Mike Gregoire, The First Gentleman of Washington State and Vietnam combat veteran; and Women of WWII veterans. While recounting history with trips down memory lane with its guests, Veterans Forum also serves to educate and inform veterans of the benefits and Veteran Service Organizations available to them.
Scott has received awards for her Veterans Forum television programs including "Best in Talk Show" for 2006 from Bremerton/Kitsap TV and a 1st Place Award for "Empowerment Talk Show" from the NW Alliance for Community Media. In July 2006 she was honored with the "Woman Veteran of The Year" award at the American Legion State Convention in Washington State.
Scott is vision-impaired as a result of a Service-Connected Disability. She is the proud mother of three adult children and grandmother of two pre-schoolers.
